Musings of a mad man…
EV conversions are just my current expression of working for a sustainable world. I had a blog many years ago, entitled Musings of a Mad Man. I’ve missed sharing my passion for a world that works for everyone. I plan to address the nuances of electric car conversions as well as sustainability in general, topics like thermal depolymerization and public policy.
Many people ask, “What is thermal depolymerization?” This great article from Science Direct explains that.
Electric vehicles are here to stay and our goal is to have conversations that help you become informed about how you can convert your beloved classic or luxury car into a clean car for the future! Left Coast EV focuses on classic and eccentric electric cars, which are typically not driven every day.
One common question is about EV range, which changes based on myriad factors such as Car shape – not all classic cars are as aerodynamic as newer cars.
Wind resistance
Rolling resistance – the tires, drive train, gears
Driving style – do you ‘punch it’ constantly? Do you drive at high speeds? If you want to extend the range, drive like a grandma. If you are just running errands, you can drive like a jackrabbit!
A big concern out there is whether having an electric car just means you have a ‘long exhaust pipe’, meaning the energy is made somewhere else and it might be dirty. Although that concept may be true, the amount of energy EVs use is much less than in an ICE. Unlike a gas car, as your energy sources get cleaner, your electric car, and your world, do as well.
